WHAT PROFESSIONALS and CLIENTS ARE SAYING
“I have used Susan for the children in my practice who need speech therapy for the past 30 years! She has provided each with excellent care and, as a result of her experience, has been able to strike the exact balance between “watch and wait” and a therapeutic regimen. I recommend her without reservation.”

Robert C. Hamilton, M.D., F.A.A.P., Pacific Ocean Pediatrics, Santa Monica
"Susan Freiman Ross, M.A. is the speech and language pathologist to whom I refer children with subtle to severe speech and language issues. In addition to excellent diagnostic and therapeutic skills, she understands the emotional and behavioral problems these children experience. Her unique creative problem-oriented treatment approach, compassion, and ability to connect with all children, as well as her ability to understand what parents are going through and how best to guide them, make her an outstanding clinician."

Rochelle Caplan, M.D., Professor, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, UCLA Department of Psychiatry
“We can’t recommend Susan highly enough! We connected with Susan following an initial visit with a different speech therapist, one who told us our seven-year-old daughter was tongue tied and needed surgery in order to pronounce her ‘r’ sound. We were astonished at this diagnosis and thankfully, our pediatrician recommended Susan. Following the first visit, Susan assured us she could help our daughter through speech therapy and she did just that. We could not be happier with the progress Susan made with our daughter’s speech! She made the learning fun and by understanding what motivated our daughter, Susan helped our daughter develop her ‘r’ sounds over the course of a summer. We had simply hoped for our daughter to be able to say the ‘r; sound and Susan not only helped her speech but also her confidence, For this we are grateful.”

“My son always had a cute lisp that we knew we wanted him to get fixed at some point. I didn’t know when the right time would be for that. After speaking with our pediatrician, we got 3 referrals. Two asked for a $450 consultation fee to ‘evaluate my son’ before they would consider taking him on. I thought that was a high fee for something as obvious as a lisp. I called Mrs. Freiman Ross, who welcomed my son without an initial consultation. We went to see her that week without knowing what to expect. She was outstanding! My son felt immediately comfortable with her. She has a room full of games, which my son loved to play with. While playing with him, sitting at times at the table or on the floor, laughing and having a good time she introduced him to pronouncing the ’S’ properly. We took some of the games home so my son would keep practicing with me after I learned from Mrs. Freiman Ross how to gently support him. It was playful, fun, and without any pressure. 3 weeks later (!) we already left Mrs. Freiman Ross as the lisp was fixed. I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly and easily and we found ourselves wishing we could go and visit her some more. Both, me and my son missed her rather quickly. I’m in awe of Mrs. Freiman Ross’ ability to teach children and alleviating my concerns as a mother. I cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“My family and I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with Susan. She truly is one of those special people who understand how to engage children with a fun and positive approach. We brought my daughter to her in 2014 and my son in 2017. They both learned how to use their “new sounds” with her kind and loving guidance. She had a seemingly limitless bag of tricks, games and ideas for getting my children to learn and implement new speech habits. Instead of resisting going to speech therapy which is what I expected, my children looked forward to their time with Susan!”

R.K., parent of a 9-year-old and a 6-year-old
“Our child was reluctant to seek help for his speech impediment because he refused to admit there was a problem. He connected with Susan in large part because she found creative ways to engage him and successfully challenged him to work with her. We were impressed by how dedicated and willing she was to go above and beyond the normal ‘delivery of services’. Our son increasingly felt empowered to change his speech ‘himself’. Through her skill set, expertise, caring, and emphasis on self-reliance and self-respect, he came out pronouncing his words correctly and feeling damn good about it!”
Hugo's speech issues were very marked. At our very first visit with Susan, he learned to make sounds he had never used before. Susan made her speech sessions fun, and she always had a new game to pull out to keep it interesting. He progressed with her guidance and I was amazed at how rapidly his speech improved.

“We had an amazing experience with Susan Freiman Ross's speech therapy services. Susan worked with both of my boys when they were 7 and 4 years old. The rapid improvement of their R and L sounds exceeded my expectations. Susan was very in-tune with both boys' personalities and temperaments almost immediately. Through her encouragement, games, and engaging instructional strategies, they were open and receptive to her instruction and looked forward to their weekly visits with Susan. Susan was very generous in lending her materials for us to practice at home for even more rapid progress. We are so grateful for Susan's expertise and assistance.”

We have known Susan for more than 9 years. She was referred to us by our pediatrician and we started to see her when my son was about 3 years old and he difficulty with his speech. I spoke to Susan on the phone prior to making an appointment to discuss my son’s issue. She immediately understood my son’s problem and I felt confident that she would be able to help us. Her demeanor and talent with communicating with kids is remarkable. She can connect to any age and gain their trust and get them to focus and want to excel in whatever challenge is ahead of them. She quickly helped us with my son’s speech problem and released us, without dragging the sessions for her own gain. Later, my son developed fluency issues and again Susan was our savior. She is so knowledgeable and so resourceful in all different speech pathology. She would take the time and call us after hours and make sure my son was doing ok. She truly cares about each patient and makes everyone feel comfortable in her presence. My other son, who did not have any speech issues also loved seeing Susan and she would engage him in the sessions when I had to take him. She is truly G-d sent. Can’t recommend her enough.
